Ruben Rubio Rey

Locoroo is founded by Ruben Rubio Rey, who has spent 25+ years building large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure - including roles at AWS Redshift, where he operated at the scale that few engineers ever see.

His background spans the full stack of modern delivery: from writing production code for distributed systems, to designing cloud architecture with deep focus on observability and operations, to leading engineering organisations as CTO of a 70-person technology organisation.

Ruben is a conference speaker on infrastructure and DevOps, having presented at linux.conf.au (2016, 2020), PuppetCamp (2015), CTO Sydney Summit (2014), and meetups including Docker, Ansible, Puppet, Port80, and DevOps.

Most recently, he drove AI coding adoption to 100% of the engineering team - designed for frugality: 750 million tokens of agentic coding across 37 engineers, for a total cost of USD 85.
